Oscar Ramirez engineer and lawyer Ricardo Arango are the two new appointees Tuesday by President Juan Carlos Varela, to join the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) members.

«With these appointments reinforce the technical and legal capacity of the Board of the ACP, in order to further strengthen the institutional structure of the organization,» said the president.

Both designations will now be sent to the National Assembly for ratification due.

Ramirez, who has a degree in Civil Engineering from the Technological University of Panama (UTP), currently serves as Rector of this university.

While Arango is director and Secretary of the Panama Stock Exchange, it is also part of the directives of Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior (Bladex); and is director of the General Bank, according to a statement review of the Ministry of Communication of the State. Since 1995, eight years after having joined the law firm Arias, Fabrega & Fabrega, was named partner in charge of the areas of banking practices, markets, and mergers and acquisitions firm; and he has held management positions of the firm in its executive and operational committees.
